Bronwyn Mondoux - Stories - Women's History Month 2014

Bronwyn Mondoux - Stories - Women's History Month 2014

I am the owner of Cinnamon Toast.
It's a creative and advertising agency here in Ottawa.
I actually had an interview with a large print company who wanted
to hire me and I said,'Well, thank you, this is fantastic,
but I am really wanting to do my business.'
Before I could walk away from the interview they actually
offered me a partnership which was awesome,
and when I moved here, I realized that I wanted it for myself and
I bought them out and then that's kind of when
Cinnamon Toast really started
to be the business that it is today.
I had two female role models, my stepmother and my mom,
that always supported the fact that I am creative by nature
and that's just who I am to the core.
There's a lot of parents that,
'What do you mean you're not going to be a lawyer,a doctor,
a teacher, you know, this is a little bit too abstract,'
and they never felt that way, they were always behind me
and,to this day, when they come and visit
they just want to know all about the business.
Always use emotion for the good, but when emotion
comes into making decisions that are really not emotional,
we need to take a step back
and just kind of you know rethink that.
