Purpose: This 20 month national project will identify and respond to the specific barriers that deaf, deaf-blind, deafened, and hard of hearing girls and young women aged 13 to age 25 in four Canadian cities face in fulfilling their economic potential. In partnership with stakeholders, girls and young women will help identify the issues affecting their economic futures. Multiple strategies will be used to engage and educate youth on the issues, such as: matching participants to female role models and supporting participants to lead workshops on relevant topics. Project participants will be supported to undertake girl-led projects addressing the barriers to economic prosperity identified during the project.
