Purpose: This 30-month project aims to increase women’s economic prosperity by increasing women’s retention and career advancement opportunities in information and communication technology occupations within four key economic sectors across Canada: construction, manufacturing, natural resources and trades. The project will create a national advisory committee with Champions representing each of the sectors along with virtual working groups (including CEOs, senior managers, men and women) in the development and implementation of sector action plans to review the human resource policies and procedures of companies in the sectors. The organization will identify and adapt best practices, strategies, and existing tools from leading Canadian organizations and a virtual "Women in Information and Communications Technology Information Centre" will be created and sustained to facilitate discussion and knowledge sharing, as well as showcasing best practices and tools.
