Location: Westmount, Quebec
Date: 2016-03-30
Value: $91,650.00
Type: Grant
Purpose: This is a supplement to the following 24-month project which aimed to identify barriers and other factors that limit the ability of stakeholders to prevent and eliminate cyberviolence against girls in Montreal. The project engaged young women and girls to identify their needs and expand their understanding of the issue. Partners from the academic and community sectors examined the prevalence, nature and scope of this form of gender based violence. Young women worked with project partners to develop and implement strategies to prevent this form of violence, and respond to the needs of young women and girls. This supplement will extend the project duration an additional 12 months to allow the organization to capitalize on Montreal’s key position as a hub for the video game industry by expanding partnerships to work towards institutional change within the industry.
