Purpose: This three-year project will improve service delivery to approximately 900 immigrant and newcomer women in Fredericton. The Multicultural Association of Fredericton will work with more than 30 service providers and engage immigrant women in the facilitation and delivery of local support services. The project includes a cultural competency component for service providers, as well as workshops, one-on-one training, and a peer support system to inform immigrant and newcomer women about their rights and responsibilities and about resources to ensure their safety, economic self-sufficiency, and integration in the community. This model of service delivery will be made available to other regions.
