Purpose: With the active involvement of young single mothers and an array of other partners, this program will (a) help young single mothers follow a life plan that provides financial, and therefore personal, autonomy; (b) protect the economic security of young women through a school awareness campaign on the dangers of early pregnancy; and (c) host workshops on various forms of violence. This project is part of the Centre Actu-Elle’s Volet Jeunes Mères [Young Mothers Initiative], which was started in 2002 by a group of young single mothers who wanted to overcome their isolation, find a place where they belonged, and develop their parenting skills.
Comments: Multi-year project of 3 years (2007-2008).
