Purpose: This timely pilot project aims to address violence against women and the girl child within ethno-cultural and faith-based communities. It is estimated that 200 women will be directly impacted. The project will develop community leaders to respond to violence against women and the girl child, within ethno-cultural and faith-based communities. It will pilot a community engagement strategy which will educate and train women from ethno-cultural/faith-based distinct communities to inform their communities about domestic violence. These trained women, along with community leaders, will develop culturally competent and responsive strategies to detect and respond to domestic violence with a view to preventing and reducing violence within their respective communities.
