Purpose: | Professional immigrant women experience unique acculturation difficulties when they settle in Canada. These difficulties arise from a wide gap between their skills and expectations and the challenges they encounter in securing appropriate employment and becoming integrated into Canadian society. This project will utilize a series of workshops as well as mentoring to help 30 immigrant women gain a deeper understanding of the reasons for their difficulties, learn practical skills to address their situation, and open up new opportunities to succeed. In addition, at least 100 women will access realistic, practical and relevant information via the internet which will enable them to better prepare for a successful immigration experience. |
