Disclosure of Grant and Contribution Awards

Recipient Name: Justice Options for Women Inc.
Location: Stratford, Prince Edward Island
Date: 2009-01-13
Value: $216,480.00
Type: Grant
Purpose: This thirty-six month project is the second phase of a Circles of Safety and Support pilot project previously funded by the Women’s Program, contributing to women’s safety in Prince Edward Island. Women’s leadership development will be encouraged by the creation and implementation of training sessions on the dynamics and impact of family violence. Approximately 100 Island women at high risk of violence after separation will gain leadership skills and confidence to ensure their ability to re-engage and fully participate in their communities. The organization will facilitate mentoring sessions for women survivors of violence and volunteer community members. Women will become peer mentors to an additional 100 identified women survivors of violence to develop their leadership skills. Additional information sessions to 240 service providers about their role as members of a Safety Circle will give sustainability to the process for the continued benefit of women in crisis.
Comments: Multi-year project of 36 months.
