Disclosure of Grant and Contribution Awards

Recipient Name: Southern Gulf of St. Lawrence Coalition on Sustainability
Location: Moncton, New-Brunswick
Date: 2009-03-19
Value: $61,098.00
Type: Grant
Purpose: This seven-month project is a follow-up to an earlier project funded by the Women’s Program. The project aims to assist low-income women who live in coastal and rural communities in the region. Aiming to build specifically on financial education, a series of training days and workshops on finances will be developed to meet the needs expressed by the 100 women participants, and then adapted into clear language with the use of simple tools such as calculation, an organized budget, planning, interest, etc. A video could also be produced to assist the women, who will also have an opportunity to learn about working closely with community organizations and to follow up with financial professionals (mentors) in their own community. Women living in the southern coastal and rural areas will therefore learn the basics of financial autonomy.
