Purpose: This 24-month project will strengthen young Aboriginal women's leadership skills in order to address and reduce violence. Through youth-led projects, participants will develop and strengthen their leadership skills while addressing violence issues in their communities. Participants will be supported by local mentors, peers and elders in the implementation of these projects and will engage key community representatives to support the elimination of violence against women and girls. The project is based on a successful model developed by the organization which increases marginalized young women's leadership capacity. Partners for this project include the Native Youth Sexual Health Network and the Native Women's Association of Canada.
