Purpose: This 36-month project will focus on increasing the recruitment, retention and advancement of women in technology sector companies in the Greater Vancouver area, BC. The Society for Women in Science and Technology and partner companies will support women who are at various points in their education and career through formalized networks for mentorship, leadership training and professional development. To address human resource practices, the organization will provide companies with in-house mentorship training aimed at influencing workplace culture and policies. This project is part of the Women in Technology Projects initiative. The Women in Technology Projects aim to provide women the opportunity to contribute to, and advance in, the Canadian Digital Economy, where they remain under-represented. The projects will: address human resources practices, structures and measures in small, medium-sized and large enterprises; and, ensure that women have the necessary skills to become active participants in Canada’s current and emerging technology sectors. These projects will work in partnership with the Information and Communications Technology Council (ICTC). The ICTC will develop a common evaluation framework for all funded projects, produce a document outlining the overall results and best/promising practices; and disseminate key evaluation findings for the funded projects.
