Purpose: This 24-month project will identify barriers African women and girls living in the London area face in accessing programs and services to reduce the impacts of violence they have experienced. The project will undertake a needs assessment to engage these women and girls to fully understand their needs and identify the barriers which lead to the low utilization of available resources. The organization will develop a strategy in order to address the identified barriers, enhance the accessibility of existing programs and, ensure the availability of culturally appropriate resources. The following community partners will be providing expertise to the project: Sexual Assault Centre London; Western Ontario Therapeutic Community Hostel; The London Distress Centre; and Women’s Community House.
