Purpose: This 36-month project will engage key stakeholders in an effort to increase employment opportunities in the construction trades for Aboriginal women living in the Huron-Wendat Nation of Wendake, and Northern remote communities of Québec. The project will address the specific needs of, and identify the barriers to, women accessing training and employment opportunities in the construction sector. A network of educational institutions, construction companies and women’s groups throughout Northern Quebec will be created to assist with the project. Through the development of a sector plan, network members will contribute to the creation of a culture of training and hiring of women in construction-related employment.
