Purpose: This 24-month project aims to realize the full economic benefits of supplier diversity and strategic procurement by women- owned businesses in British Columbia. The project will work with women entrepreneurs who are interested in becoming suppliers of goods or services to international events being held in the province, specifically the 2014 U20 Women’s World Cup and the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup. The project will engage government departments, the private sector, community organizations, business advocates for women and women in the business community to establish a proactive, sustained system for identifying and pursuing inbound international and domestic procurement opportunities in a timely and effective manner. It will develop a model by creating, testing and implementing strategies to support a network of suppliers and ensuring that they are connected with promoters of inbound international buyers and visiting global companies.
