Disclosure of Grant and Contribution Awards
|Recipient Name:||Oshki-Pimache-O-Win Education and Training Institute|
|Location:||Thunder Bay, Ontario|
|Purpose:||This 36-month project will support Indigenous women in Nishnawbe Aski Nation communities in Ontario to better understand the challenges and opportunities related to the well-being of their communities. By taking a community development approach to empowering women, Indigenous women will learn about the principles of community development, identify issues and concerns related to physical and mental health and wellness, and take action to address these through community action projects. The community projects will be facilitated by Indigenous women, further developing the skills and competencies needed to improve and change their situations. An initial pilot will be developed and tested in a community in Thunder Bay and later implemented in nine other communities, including remote and disadvantaged areas.|
