Purpose: This 36-month project will seek to improve the economic security of women living with disabilities in Scarborough. Employers and women will be engaged in examining and identifying solutions to the systemic and attitudinal barriers to stable and fair wage employment for women with disabilities. Representatives of financial institutions, universities, employment agencies, community organizations and disability advocates, will collaborate to identify successful inclusion practices. An action plan and tools to support employer hiring, advancement, and retention of women living with disabilities will be developed and piloted. Recommendations of the action plan will be shared and promoted through ongoing dialogue with partners, stakeholders and elected officials.
