Purpose: This 36 month project will seek to improve how the British Columbia justice system responds to women who have experienced sexual violence. The organization will develop a strategy to address documented systemic bias in the justice system with regard to rape myths, negative stereotyping against women and inappropriate or harmful protocols that lead to re-victimization. The organization will work with partner agencies to develop and implement an accountability mechanism for the justice system to increase the effectiveness of service to victims of sexual violence throughout British Columbia. Results will also be disseminated amongst broader stakeholders in order to strengthen coordinated responses to victims of sexual violence.
